2013 Roundup and wishes

Yet another year is coming to an end. Many goals have been achieved and the OSRC project has never been closer to its realization. This year has truly been fruitful thanks to the unforeseen demand of Ilios 3D printers, which in their turn, besides helping others in their projects, are supporting my work on the remote control system every day.

I have been fortunate enough to collect enough funds and equip my workshop with almost everything i need to not only make the Ilios machines better and faster but also to produce the parts necessary for OSRC to function as i designed it. It has been a long journey from the time when i had to machine every part on an unpaved floor, holding each piece with both hands while the burning sun or the cold rain poured on top. As you can see from the pictures, i can finally work day or night in a friendly environment which is well lit and has the tools that make the process much safer and much more rewording.

Been a while since any official update was published, so i shall try and update everyone who is interested with everything that has happened so far regarding Ilios and naturally OSRC. Please note that although i try and summarize everything in News Posts, additional information can also be found through the OSRC FaceBook page and sometimes Twitter. Feel free to visit these sites to learn about my day to day (sometimes not so daily) activities and progress.

Lets start with progress and news about OSRC, our wonderful idea about a Hi-Tech remote control system for everyone and every application imaginable. After all, this IS the main project and what everything else was created for.

Working & Waiting

Demetris holding a projectorAlthough things may seem to have gone quiet, after the IndieGoGo campaign finished, a lot of things have been happening behind the scenes and on the website. First off, few days after the campaign was funded, all parts have been ordered. I am happy to say that the last projectors shall be picked up on Monday (25/02/2013) since not all were ordered from the same place. I have been informed that the mechanical parts for the Ilios 3D printer shall be shipped within the upcoming week, since they needed some machining on the spindles and the extrusions them selves. It is a killer to sit around and wait for the parts to arrive, i know, but once everything is here, work shall pick up really fast and should be quite exciting.
